Yes, but usually for Self Drive only. This is when renting for personal use, e.g moving house, garden clearance, etc. When renting for business/commercial use, insurance would need to be provided by you.

We can allow international hire (e.g. to Europe) under certain circumstances, but this must be arranged in advance and usually incurs extra fees.

Yes, most rental companies require a security deposit, which is refunded upon safe and timely return of the vehicle.

Yes, if you’re driving a vehicle over 3.5 tonnes for commercial purposes, you must comply with EU or GB drivers’ hours regulations. This is what the tachograph does when you insert your tacho card.

Some companies offer driver-included rental (chauffeur or operator hire), especially for heavy or specialist vehicles. However, this is not a service we provide at Thomas’s.

Most reputable rental companies will include roadside assistance or breakdown cover—confirm this when booking.

Some companies allow one-way rentals if they have multiple sites, but there may be an extra fee. However, you may be able to arrange delivery and/or collection of the vehicle. Please ask if this is required so we can check availability of drivers.

Yes, subject to availability. it’s best to book in advance, especially during busy peak periods.

Usually, trucks are rented with a full tank and must be returned full. If not, refuelling charges apply.

Yes. Generally, you must be:

  • Be at least 21 for vans and smaller trucks
    • Often 25+ for larger trucks or HGVs
  • With a minimum of 1-2 years’ driving experience

Yes, you’re responsible for any tolls, ULEZ/LEZ charges, or congestion zone fees incurred during your rental period.

As the hirer, you are likely liable for any damage or loss to the rental vehicle under the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. However, this should be covered by the insurance claim process.

Even though we’re located just off the M6 between Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Walsall, we have the capacity to serve clients all over the UK. If you’re located outside of the Midlands area, feel free to reach out and see what we can do for you!

Even though our entire fleet is fully maintained with less than three years on the road, we still offer a UK nationwide recovery and replacement service if selected as part of your contract. Wherever your vehicle is when you need us, we’ll work with you to get you back on the road in no time.

If there’s a gap in your fleet and you need a vehicle at short notice, we’d be happy to help. Our team is well-versed in working with businesses of all sizes, with a variety of needs. This means we can provide a fast turnaround on the vehicles you need, as you need them.

At Thomas’s, being part of a contract hire package aims to give you the freedom of vehicle ownership, without the logistical headaches and financial commitment. This is why at the end of your contract, you’ll be given the option to upgrade your vehicles or simply end your contract.
